Amazon Delivery Trucks on Boca Raton Roads
If an Amazon delivery truck or van hit you in Boca Raton, you may have a claim. You may be able to pursue it against the people and companies responsible. Amazon truck accidents in Boca Raton often raise harder questions than an ordinary fender-bender.
Boca Raton drivers know the rhythm of busy roads. They may be heading to an FAU Owls game or to the grocery store. Delivery vans share those roads with families, cyclists, and commuters every day.
Delivery vehicles raise different questions. Many are large box trucks or vans. Drivers make frequent stops in neighborhoods, shopping plazas, and business areas.
Each stop can mean backing up, double-parking, or pulling quickly back into traffic. Crashes can happen on busy roads such as I-95, Glades Road, Federal Highway (US-1), and Palmetto Park Road. They also happen on quieter side streets.
This guide is written for people in Boca Raton and throughout Florida. CHG Personal Injury Lawyers is a Florida-based firm. Igor Hernandez is the responsible lawyer for this page.

Who Can Be Held Responsible After an Amazon Truck Crash
Several parties may be part of a claim. It is not only the driver. The driver, the company that employs or contracts the driver, and the owner or operator of the vehicle may each be connected to the crash. Who is responsible depends on the facts.
Many Amazon delivery routes are run by independent businesses. These businesses work under contract with Amazon. They are often called Delivery Service Partners (DSPs). That arrangement can change who may be liable. For this reason, route records, driver files, and crash reports matter.
Some drivers deliver as Amazon Flex drivers. They use their own vehicles and the Amazon app. Insurance and liability questions can look different for these drivers. The coverage in place after a crash needs a careful review.
What happens if an Amazon driver gets in an accident?
The injured person may have claims against the driver. They may also have claims against the company that employs or contracts the driver. They may have claims against the vehicle’s owner or operator. Each of these parties may have insurance that applies.
Can you sue Amazon after a delivery truck crash?
A claim against Amazon may be possible. Whether it is depends on how Amazon, the delivery company, and the driver were connected. It also depends on how each was connected to the crash.
Common Crash Patterns Involving Delivery Trucks and Vans
Delivery crashes often involve backing, parking in travel lanes, and driver distraction. Knowing these patterns can help you describe what happened.
Backing without a spotter. A driver backing into a driveway, loading area, or shopping center lot may not see people or cars behind the vehicle. A missing spotter (a person who guides the driver) or a camera that doesn’t work can matter in a claim.
Illegal parking and door-zone crashes. A van stopped in a travel lane or bike lane can force other drivers to swerve. Cyclists and passengers can be struck. This can happen when a door opens or a vehicle pulls back into traffic.
Distraction. Some claims allege that a driver was distracted by a phone or an app. Federal rules say no commercial driver may text while driving, except when necessary to communicate with law enforcement or other emergency services. They also say no motor carrier may allow it (49 CFR 392.80).
Training and vetting. A claim may examine how drivers were hired, trained, and supervised. Federal rules require carriers to make an inquiry, within 30 days of the date the driver’s employment begins, to obtain a new driver’s motor vehicle record (a driving history report) covering the prior three years (49 CFR 391.23). Hours-of-service rules (the rules on how long drivers may work and drive) also apply. Hours-of-service rules limit driving time and are set out in 49 CFR 395.3, which bars a driver from driving after a period of 14 consecutive hours on duty that follows 10 consecutive hours off duty. A separate section, 49 CFR 391.23, requires each motor carrier to request each driver’s motor vehicle record for the prior three years and to investigate the driver’s safety performance history with prior employers regulated by the Department of Transportation. This includes a 14-hour window after a 10-hour break (49 CFR 395.3).

Steps to Protect Your Claim After a Boca Raton Crash
The most useful steps after an Amazon truck crash are simple. Get medical care, document the scene, and request the crash report. You can start all three today.
Get medical care right away. Follow your doctors’ care. A medical record made soon after the crash matters to any claim. Medical decisions belong to you and your doctors.
Call the police. Make sure a crash report gets written. Florida requires the long-form crash report to be submitted within 10 days after the investigation is completed for crashes that result in death, personal injury, or any indication of complaints of pain or discomfort.
Note the company name, DOT number, or logo on the truck, if you can see it. A DOT number is the U.S. Department of Transportation ID on many commercial trucks.
Photograph the following: – The scene – The damage – The truck’s markings – Traffic signals – Your injuries
Save receipts. Keep a simple daily log of symptoms, appointments, and missed work.
Ask for witness names and phone numbers. Ask whether a dashcam (a camera mounted in a vehicle) or a nearby business camera recorded the crash. Video can be overwritten, so ask early.
Two cautions matter. Avoid posting about the crash on social media. Avoid recorded statements to insurance companies before you have spoken with an attorney.

Florida Deadlines and Fault Rules That Apply
For most injury claims that arose after March 24, 2023, Florida generally gives two years to file a lawsuit (Fla. Stat. § 95.11(5)(a)). Deadlines apply to every claim. Timing matters from the start.
Florida uses a modified comparative fault rule, also called shared fault. Under Fla. Stat. 768.81, in a negligence action to which this section applies, a person found more than 50 percent at fault for their own harm may not recover any damages; this does not apply to an action for damages for personal injury or wrongful death arising out of medical negligence. Fault can be divided among several people. Each party’s role gets examined.
Wrongful death claims follow a separate path. The Florida Wrongful Death Act governs claims brought after a death. These claims have their own rules. An attorney reviews those rules with the family.
When the Injury Is Catastrophic or a Family Has Lost a Loved One
Some crashes cause injuries that change a person’s life for good. Spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, amputations, severe burns, and serious back or neck injuries can need long-term care. They can also need rehabilitation (therapy to rebuild strength and skills), equipment, and changes at home and at work. These needs are part of how a claim is evaluated.
Recovery can take a long time. Follow your doctors’ care. Keep the appointments you can. Keep records of each treatment and what it changes at home.
When a family loses a loved one, the loss reaches every part of daily life. Florida law names who may recover in a wrongful death case. This includes a surviving spouse, minor children, and parents of a deceased minor child.
Families can also help their claim by keeping organized records. Keep the crash report, medical bills, and funeral receipts. Also keep a list of the household tasks and support your loved one provided.
Doctors provide medical care and medical opinions. If a claim uses a medical reviewer, that person is a consultant. Medical decisions still belong to you and your doctors.
