In October 2025, WTSP<\/a> reported that troopers said a BMW driver lost control, moved into the outside center lane, and struck an Amazon tractor-trailer in Hillsborough County. These are reported events. They are not findings about who was at fault.<\/p>\n

Federal rules limit how long a commercial driver can drive a property-carrying commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce. Under 49 CFR \u00a7 395.3<\/a>, with some exceptions, a driver of a property-carrying commercial motor vehicle may not drive after 14 consecutive hours from coming on duty following 10 consecutive hours off duty. Under 49 CFR \u00a7 390.11<\/a>, the motor carrier must require drivers to follow their duties and prohibitions.<\/p>\n

These rules do not assume a violation happened. They are questions a claim can examine.<\/p>\n

Amazon’s role depends on who operated and controlled the vehicle and the driver. A lawsuit names the parties the evidence supports, and the facts of each crash answer that question.<\/p>\n

What to Do After an Amazon Truck Crash in Tampa<\/h2>\n

When a death occurs, Florida law sets out who brings the claim. Under Fla. Stat. \u00a7 768.20<\/a>, the decedent’s personal representative brings the action for the benefit of the survivors and the estate.<\/p>\n

Under Fla. Stat. \u00a7 768.21<\/a>, a surviving spouse may recover for loss of companionship and protection, along with mental pain and suffering. Minor children, and all children of the decedent if there is no surviving spouse, may recover for lost parental companionship, instruction, and guidance, along with mental pain and suffering.
