Stat. \u00a7 768.0427<\/a> Unpaid bills follow other measures tied to health coverage.<\/p>\n<p>PIP can help with early bills. It provides up to $10,000 in medical and disability benefits. Under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.state.fl.us\/statutes\/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&amp;URL=0600-0699\/0627\/Sections\/0627.736.html\">Florida&#8217;s personal injury protection statute<\/a>, eighty percent of all reasonable expenses for medically necessary medical, surgical, X-ray, dental, and rehabilitative services are payable, subject to the statute&#8217;s terms. Initial care must start within 14 days of the crash.<\/p>\n<p>Keep every bill, pay stub, and log of missed work. Stat. \u00a7 768.21<\/a> Survivors who paid medical or funeral bills may recover those costs too.<\/p>\n<h2>Florida&#8217;s 51% Rule and Shared Fault<\/h2>\n<p>Under Florida law, in a negligence action, a person found more than 50 percent at fault for their own harm may not recover any damages, though this bar does not apply to personal injury or wrongful death actions arising out of medical negligence. The statute says that in a negligence action to which it applies, &#8220;any party found to be greater than 50 percent at fault for his or her own harm may not recover any damages,&#8221; but this does not apply to personal injury or wrongful death actions arising out of medical negligence under chapter 766.<\/p>\n<p>Florida calls this comparative fault (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.state.fl.us\/statutes\/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&amp;URL=0700-0799\/0768\/Sections\/0768.81.html\">Fla. Stat. \u00a7 768.81(6)<\/a>). Fault is measured as a percentage.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.state.fl.us\/statutes\/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&amp;URL=0700-0799\/0768\/Sections\/0768.81.html\">Florida&#8217;s comparative fault statute<\/a>, in a negligence action, any party found to be greater than 50 percent at fault for his or her own harm may not recover any damages. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.state.fl.us\/statutes\/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&amp;URL=0700-0799\/0768\/Sections\/0768.81.html\">Fla.
